Proverbs 28:1 tells us that “…the righteous are bold as a lion. “
On the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit invaded the earth, one of the most remarkable evidences of the infilling of the Spirit was boldness. The Church as a whole is at least 50% lioness’ and it is time for the lionesses to be powerful and free. It is time for us to expect no limitations and no gender biases. It is time for us to have a plan for how to respond to the walls of limitation that we most certainly will run into.
Ladies, we are 100% a new a creation and we are one 100% filled with the Holy Spirit. That means we have the same newness and the same fullness as men. So this question remains: “What are we going to do with ourselves?”
Now that we know who we are and what we are destined for, we cannot simply sit back and do nothing. We must be who we are called to be. Like the apostles Peter and John, we must declare, “Whethere it is right in the sight of God to listen to you ( the Pharisees, the defenders of tradition) more than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” Acts 4:19-20 We are compelled to enter into the freedom that Jesus purchased for us.
The decision to become powerful women in the Church requires great courage and great commitment to the big picture because we will be the first wave on the shore. Some of us, like the great liberators of history, may suffer for our stance. Yet we have the hope of liberation, not only for ourselves, but also for our daughters. We have the hope that men and women will step into the unity that Jesus prophesied and together establish the Kingdom of Heaven on earth.
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without warning, for He who promised is faithful” Heb. 10:23
Hope is a courageous choice- let’s chose to never stop hoping.
